Angie Francis is a watercolour artist, born and raised in Victoria, BC, Canada.
Angie took many painting courses in the early years, and of note, studied with Alan Bruce and Harry Heine of Victoria, BC. She has always had a great admiration for, and taken inspiration from the works of Stephanie Quainton-Steel, Brian Travers-Smith and Tony Onley.
Past successes have mainly come from word of mouth, participation in a number of group art shows, some juried art shows and a number of solo showings. Angie has a following of patrons across Canada, the USA, the UK, Europe and Asia.
Though largely self-taught, Angie has been invited on many occasions to put on small workshops of her own which has provided her with the opportunity to inspire others to share her enthusiasm for this exciting medium.
Angie’s paintings are, for the most part, wet-in-wet and impressionistic in style. Her youthful fondness for exploring coastal haunts, driftwood snagged beaches, peaceful forest clearings and misty waterways during summer rambles has developed in her, a deep passion for the “simple images” in nature and the unique and dynamic colours of Canada’s west coast. She combines spontaneity that comes from painting without preliminary drawings and by letting the paint dictate the final result. Her style is light, fresh and unpredictable and yet the results are always a pleasure to view.
